  • 1 Cup Unsalted butter
  • 1+ ½ Cups Sugar
  • 3 Large size Eggs
  • ½ cup Mayonnaise
  • 5 oz. Chocolates chunks optional
  • Raspberries for garnish

Dry ingredients:

  • 1+ ½ Cups All purpose flour
  • 1 Cup Cocoa powder Dutch-processed
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1+ ½ Tsp Baking soda
  • ½ Tsp Baking powder

Wet ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp Espresso powder

For the buttercream frosting:

  • 1+ ½ Cups Unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup Cocoa powder Dutch-processed
  • 5 cups Powdered sugar
  • 4-5 tbsps Milk


  • This ultimate yummy cake consists of three main steps but first thing first; preheat oven at 160 °C or 325 °F.
  • Lined 8 inches 3 cake pans with butter and parchment paper.

Step 1: Dry Ingredient preparation:

  • In a large bowl, sift 1 and ½ Cup of flour along with Dutch-processed cocoa powder.
  • Add 1 tsp. Salt, 1 and ½ tsp. Baking soda and ½ tsp. baking powder. Mix them well and set aside.

Step 2: Wet Ingredient preparation:

  • In a mug or measuring jug add 1 tbsp. of vanilla extract and 1 tbsp. of espresso powder as it enhances the chocolate flavor. Mix all the wet ingredients well and set it aside.

Step 3: Cake preparation:

  • Take a large bowl; add 1 Cup of Unsalted Butter along with 1 and ½ cups of granulated sugar.
  • Mix well until sugar completely dissolves in the butter and evenly cream together.
  • Break 3 eggs one by one in the buttercream and beat well until mix become super buttery and creamy.
  • Add ½ cup of Mayonnaise for the extremely moist and rich texture.
  • Add dry and wet ingredients side by side and mix well in the batter.
  • You can also fold dark chocolate chunks in the mixture for the gooey fudgy texture, but this is optional.
  • Divide the dough evenly in the cake pans and bake it for 35 minutes.
  • Take a skewer test and cool the cake on the rack.

Buttercream frosting:

  • In a large bowl take 1 and ½ cup of unsalted soft butter. Add 1 tbsp. of vanilla extract. Add ½ cup of Dutch-processed cocoa powder by batches and beat the butter evenly.
  • Add 5 cups of powdered sugar spoon by spoon while beating the frosting.
  • Add 4-5 tbsps. of milk thoroughly while adding powdered sugar and beating.

Assembling or frosting the cake:

  • Place the cake layer on the cake stand and add a generous amount of frosting in the center. Spread the frosting evenly with the offset spatula and place the other layer on it.
  • Do it with all three layers and spread the frosting evenly. Add frosting to the sides of the cake and gently even it.
  • After evenly spread the frosting garnish the cake with the stuff of your choice like shave chocolate, add a sprinkle of add some fresh berries on the top. It depends on your taste.
  • For the cutting of the perfect slice. Place the knife in hot water for a while. Clean it and cut a professional cut of a cake.
